Jul 29, 2013 - The default xpad driver has been a source of trouble for a long time. And while it works well for some – you don't need to pay attention to this. When you buy a game on Steam for Linux, chances are your Xbox 360 controller will work with it out of the box. This is possible thanks to the hard work from people who submit drivers to the Linux kernel.
- Python class to support reading xbox 360 wired and wireless controller input under Linux. Makes it easy to get real-time input from controller buttons, analog sticks and triggers. Built and tested on RaspberryPi running Raspbian. Download the python module and sample code with the following: wget.

Xbox 360 controller with CEMU in Ubuntu
I didn't think it would be much of an issue but it took a few failed guides to come up with the best way to setup a wired off-brand xbox 360 controller with CEMU. In the past, I had used a regular 360 controller with xboxdrv without issue. For whatever reason this time(many years later), I encountered a number of issues.
In addition, you may also want to use the alternative version
Now run:
(add -s to remove the verbose output)
If you see the following terminal output:
You are in the same boat as me. No worries, run:
You will see a list of USB devices. For me, none on the list said 'Xbox360' directly. Instead, my controller was listed as:
The only way I could tell this was by unplugging the controller and rerunning lsub, noting the difference in the device list.
Great, now what?
Playing the demo mode is also useful for seeing if your computer can run Minecraft before you decide to buy it. Minecraft for consoles You can find free demo versions of Minecraft for Xbox One and Xbox 360 through the.
run(replacing device-name and device-by-id with your device from the lsusb you previously ran):
Move around the joystick, if any of the output changes and you don't see any errors, great it works. Ctrl+C
Now run it again, except I suggest using the -s flag or --silent to hide the output(replacing device-name and device-by-id with your device from the lsusb you previously ran):
Leave this running, open a new terminal, probably a good idea to add this to a bash script and set it run on boot or whatever.
CEMU

open cemu.exe in wine. Open options -> input settings. for controller 1 set it to pro controller, and the second drop down set it to your controller/device. Add each button using controller.
Reminder save cemu input key mappings.
Updated . You don't actually need any of my original preferred method of using antimicro. Mapping is immediately available in the options -> input settings of CEMU. You still might get the 'xbox controller not found' error, or need to map controller for other purposes so I'm leaving the rest of this here in case.
I must have tried 4/5 different GUIs in addition to manually configuring it via xboxdrv. The best a solution I found is to use AntiMicro

Install:
Configure
Open antimicro, at the top you'll see a list of controller tabs. Select(or scroll over with the arrow buttons) to the tab that lists your controller. I found my oddly named controller very last on the tab list(hidden from view).
Once selected, you'll notice whenever you push a button on your controller its mapping is automatically highlighted in the GUI. Simply set a keyboard key for each button mapping.
Axis 1 is the left joystick's left and right. So if it's a WASD game, set the left side to A and the right side to D

Axis 2 is the left joystick's up and down. So if it's a WASD game, set the left side to W and the right side to S.
Axis 3 + 4 are the same as 1 + 2 except for they're for the right joystick.
You can figure the rest out, hopefully.
edit: added update
edit2: reupdated, test, test, and test some more. Made many mistakes here.
